"Indigenous people and researchers: building collaborative partnerships and the importance of responsibilities, ethics, and values of research on the Navajo Nation"

The goals of the NNIRB 2009 conference are:

  • To disseminate Navajo research findings to the Navajo Nation government, Navajo Nation communities, tribal departments and service providers of the Navajo public.
  • To disseminate and facilitate the implementation of research findings within governmental agencies such as the Indian Health Service, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and others located on the Navajo Nation.
  • To facilitate the use of research findings to inform clinical and public health practice to public and private providers on the Navajo Nation.
  • To provide a venue for discussions about collaboration between providers, tribal health leaders, and researchers.
  • To facilitate the use of research findings to fund programs.
  • To further the use of research for prevention and to enhance services with a better cultural understanding.
  • To prioritize tribal concerns regarding research needs.
